Music samples

 The practice of  taking a sample or part of  a sound recording and reusing it as part of a new recording or musical piece is called sampling.  The sample may consist of  taking part of  one  song and reusing it in another song. It may also consist of taking spoken sentences and words from a TV program or movie and incorporating it in a song.

Music samples are widely used in industrial music, electronic music, hip hop (which developed from DJs repeating the breaks from sounds ) , R &B  music, but are becoming popular in other forms of  music also.  Hip hop songs use a large number of  samples from songs of the 1970's

Sampling can be done using a sampler, which can either be a specialized hardware or a special software run on standard computer. Samples of beats are combined to form drums and percussion instruments sounds in many recordings. Libraries of these beats are licensed out to end users.
